Golden Fingers Farmer Producer Company Ltd is the brain child of Women Development Centre, Guwahati. The
Company consists of WSHGs from Rural Villages of most backward district of Dhemaji which was declared by Govt.
of India and supported by NABARD. SHG members from North Lakhimpur district are also part of the company. The
villages are affected by Flood every year where the inhabitants of various communities use to struggle with flood
and fight against survival.
WDC started implementing WSHG scheme in 2012 and handhold in the year 2017. 552 WSHGs formed and 478
groups availed direct credit from banks with which the members setup their IGAs especially on weaving and other
allied activities. Various trainings were provided by NABARD, D.C Handicrafts on diversification of Tribal Textiles,
design development & Marketing linkages with support from Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts EPCH), to
become Entrepreneurs in leading to sustainable development. The Artisans were not able to get proper market of
their products except local markets within the districts and state.
Artisans were looking for an opportunity to undertake to and create a sustainable livelihood using the only skill they
had on weaving, on their traditional looms made of Bamboo and some local resources. Ms. Bhagyawati Bhuyan the
Project Director of WDC in consultant with Sr. Betsy the Director WDC & approached Shri Bhaskar Baruah the
Program Officer (NER) EPCH, Guwahati for support on market and design with technologies. In the year 2020
SFURTI project under Ministry of MSME under Govt. of India sanctioned with the initiative of EPCH in Nowboicha
block in District of North Lakhimpur Assam, India.
With 12 women initially started weaving of diversified products i.e. stoles, cushion covers, waist coats, table runner
with plate mate made of Muga, ERI silk and cotton with own fund . WDC invested Rs. 8 lacks to start the business
and basic infrastructure made than bought the necessary equipments such as-handloom, drum, yarn and other
necessary equipments for production. In June 2019, 12 Women employed by WDC to produce various handloom and
Handicrafts products which are in stock, and we sell some products during exhibition organized by NABARD, EPCH
and Handloom department within the state and National level.
WDC got considerable publicity through word of mouth and articles in vernacular newspapers, leaflets. Besides
these, WDC’s work which spread to all corners of Dhemaji and Lakhimpur Districts helped to increase membership.
On 5 th June 2019 resolution taken by Sr. Betsy Devasia along with Ms. Bhagyawati Bhuyan the Project Director WDC
& few members to form a Company with the objectives-
 To carry on the business of Farm and Nonfarm Activities, harvesting, procurement, , grading, pooling,
manufacturing, handling, marketing, export of Handloom and Handicraft Items/ tea or tea products,
import/Export of goods or services for their benefit. Provided that the company may carry on any of the
activities specified in this clause either by itself or through other institutions.
 To carry on the business of processing including preserving, drying, distilling, brewing, venting, packaging,
branding and brand development.
 To manufacture, sell or supply machinery, equipments or consumables mainly to the shareholders.
On 5 th July 2019, Golden Fingers Farmer Producer Company Ltd was registered under Company Act 2013. This
also registered with (Udyog Aadhaar under Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise (MSME) on dated 14 th
November 2019.
Company Structure and Management
Golden Fingers Farmer Producer Company Ltd believes in the philosophy of Join Venture and collective ownership. It
accepts all its working members as the owners and an equal partaker in both profit and loss. The members are co-
owners and fondly referred to as "sisters and brothers". All the decisions are based on consensus and any member-
sister and brothers has the right to veto a decision.

The running of the Company is entrusted to a managing committee of 5 directors, managing director and CEO along
with the members. The office bearers of the produce directors were chosen from the members-who are weavers &
farmers and 5 Managing Directors are from WDC’s well wishers.
Contact Address
The central office of GFFPCL is based in Guwahati at WDC Campus and Branch office is at Moridirgha Village in
North Lakhimpur District, to coordinate the activities of various sectors. As the organization grew, the authority will
decentralize in terms of work and sharing of profits to the share holders. However, this will still need the BOD’s
approval before they undertake any new decisions for any activity.
Currently, Golden Fingers Farmer Producer Company Ltd has branch office in North Lakhimpur District in two blocks,
namely Boginadi Block and in Nowboicha Block. Company will extend its activities at Machkhowa Block in Dhemaji
District in Upper Assam for which BOD will decide to work in other states in coming future when and where
depending on the possible.
Quality & Products
The quality of products will be verified with the quality of yarns and farm products which will be by default organic. To
avoid any inconsistencies, the final products are tested in the laboratory where machines are available in Guwahati or
any other departments related to the product. In the monthly meetings, the quality issue and modifications,
diversifications will be one of the priorities.
Objectives of the Golden Fingers Farmer Producer Company Ltd
a) To carry on the business of production, harvesting, procurement, manufacturing, grading, pooling, handling,
marketing, selling, export of tea or tea products of the Members or import of goods or services for their
benefit. Provided that the company may carry on any of the activities specified in this clause either by itself or
through other institutions.
b) To carry on the business of processing including preserving, drying, distilling, brewing, venting, packaging,
branding and brand development of produce of the members.
c) Plantation of sum/Muga, Eri/castar plant,  or any plants which can be  a source of yarn processing  and
production  connected with  procuring , processing , reeling, spinning, weaving ,designing, stitching, packing,
marketing and also with financial support through  banking & SFAC.
d) To manufacture, sell or supply machinery, equipments or consumables mainly to the Members.
e) To provide education on the mutual assistance principles to its Members and others.
f) To render technical services, consultancy services, training, research and development and all other activities
for the promotion of the interest of the Members.
g) To generate, transmit and distribute power, revitalize, land and water resources, their use, conservation and
communications relatable to primary produce
h) To provide Insurance of producers or their primary produce.
i) To provide techniques of mutuality and mutual assistance.
j) To provide for welfare measures or facilities for the benefit of Members as and when be decided by the Board
