Women Development Centre felicitated 69 students from Guwahati slums

Women Development Centre [WDC] organized a Felicitation Programme on May 13, 2024 for the students who passed their HSLC and HS examinations with flying colors.

These students are the beneficiaries of our on-going Agragati (KMW) Project – Urban Slums Intervention in the 6 slums of Guwahati in Uzanbazar, Solapara, Telegu Colony and Punjabi Colony in Marakhali, Islampur, Pub-Bhaskarnagar and Kalibari near Ghy Railway Station. The programme was held at WDC, Joypur, Kharghuli, Guwahati.

During the felicitation ceremony the students were felicitated with a phulom gamocha and a beautiful Umbralla  by our esteemed guests . 36 students appeared for the Higher Secondary Examination state board AHSEC. 33 passed – 8 First Divisions; 14 Second Division and 11 Third Division. And 45 students appeared for the HSLC Examination state board SEBA. 41 passed – 8 First Divisions; 26 Second Divisions and 7 Third Divisions.

There was a special award category for best of three and it comprised of a memento  was presented to the following students in HSLC it was awarded to Dipjyoti Das from Pub Bhaskarnagar obtained 75.6% and letter marks in 4 subjects; Dhrubajyoti Gaur from Pub Bhaskarnagar obtained 72% and Ashish Choudhury from Uzanbazar obtained 66%. And in Higher Secondary it was awarded to Ayesha Begum from Uzanbazar obtained 84% letter marks in 4 subjects; Martina Das from Pub Bhaskarnagar obtained 70% letter marks in 2 subjects and Himashri Dhar from Pub Bhaskarnagar obtained 69.8%.

This occasion was graced by Mr. Pabitra Kalita a senior advocate of the Guwahati High Court  , Mrs. Jyotika Choudhury & Mrs. Sangita Agarwal  Entrepreneurs and  well wishes of WDC  and Ms. Madhusmita Adhyapak  a renowed social activist to share our joy and to encourage and to wish the children a successful and bright future. There were 92 participants for the program, including parents/guardians and the community mobilizers of each project area and  about 70 well wishers  to encourage them.
